Summer 2012 High School Program
Each summer, Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy offers programs for high school students interested in jumpstarting their digital media education. For summer 2012, TFA will be offering three week-long High School Program sessions:

Do you love watching movies? Have you always wanted to make your own high-quality film? Learn how to bring your vision to the big screen in TFA’s HD Film Production Workshop!
This hands-on program is designed to give high school students an introduction to digital film production. The students will collaborate to take an idea from conception through development, and transform it into an original short film. You’ll work with professional equipment such as HD cameras, location audio gear, and industry-standard editing programs. Then, at the end of one week, you’ll see your vision come to life on the big screen in TFA’s state-of-the-art screening room.

If you love music, this is your chance to go behind the scenes and learn how recording engineers turn a studio performance into a professional recording.
In TFA’s Studio Recording Workshop, you’ll get hands-on training in our professional music control room, recording studios, and digital audio workstation labs. Students will learn the recording process and work with a 4-6 piece musical ensemble. At the end of the week, students will walk away with a professional-quality CD of their projects.

From games to television to the silver screen, 3D animation is a dominant force in the entertainment industry today. Learn how the pros bring characters to life during TFA’s Animation + Visual Effects Workshop.
You’ll get an introduction to the complex and powerful world of Animation + Visual Effects while animating a pre-built, professional character. In one week, you’ll learn how to move your character and convey emotion, creating the illusion that your animated character is really alive.

How do you take an idea for a game and make it into something fun and challenging? Learn how games move from the drawing board to the screen in TFA’s Game Design Workshop.
In this workshop, students will get an introduction to the art of modern game design. You’ll collaborate with your peers to design and build a game of your very own. After one week, you’ll walk away with completed game concept documents and a physical prototype of a playable game.

New for 2012! From magazines to movie posters, album covers to advertisements, examples of graphic design are everywhere we look. Find out how the pros use words, images, lines, and colors to capture our attention in TFA’s Graphic Design Workshop.
During this week-long program, you’ll use Photoshop’s editing, filtering, and distortion tools to enhance and manipulate digital text and images. Then, you’ll combine the skills you learn to create an original package design for a CD, DVD, or magazine.
