
Today, as a part of TFA's Jumpstart guest speaker series, students had the opportunity to Skpe with Beth Janson of the Tribeca Film Institute, a non-profit organization providing year-round fiscal and professional support of independent media artists; developing new audiences for meaningful work; and using film as an educational tool for public school students.
Beth joined Tribeca in 2004 to launch a new initiative called Tribeca All Access (TAA). TAA grew quickly to become an important forum for U.S-based filmmakers from diverse backgrounds to promote their current projects. She held a variety of positions prior to Tribeca include Programming Director for the 2003 Newport International Film Festival and working as a part of the HBO Documentary Films/Cinemax Reel Life programming team. At HBO, she worked on such films as American Standoff, The Young and the Dead, Journeys with George, Shelter Dogs and the Taxicab Confessions series. She was associate producer for Cinemax Reel Life on Broken Silence, a five-film series executive produced by Steven Spielberg. She began her career in the producer’s office of the Public Theater/New York Shakespeare Festival.
