Introducing TFA's New 15-Month Degree Program

Known industry-wide for providing intensive, direct-to-industry programs, Tribeca Flashpoint Academy is pleased to introduce an even faster path into the digital and media arts industries. With TFA’s new 15-month program, students who start class in June 2013 will earn their associates degree in just over a year.
“There is more opportunity here than any classroom I’ve ever seen in my life,” Consulting Producer at Pilgrim Films and Television Alison Martino said.
The 15-month program is grounded in the same non-traditional teaching approach that has made TFA one of the nation’s premier digital arts colleges and has transformed the industry’s approach to creative media training.
“I really think Tribeca is the right way for the 20th century,” Illinois Governor Pat Quinn said. “I’ve been here numerous occasions and every time I’m just in awe.”
TFA’s teaching philosophy replaces textbooks and seminars with immersive, hands-on project work that exposes students to state-of-the-art technology. And TFA transforms classrooms into real-world studios where students learn by collaborating with industry professionals and cross-functionally with one another.
“It’s so close to what a real set and studio is like that I really feel comfortable,” VP at Fox Broadcasting Company Phoebe Tisdale said. “I feel at home.”
In just over a year, students can earn their degrees in a number of focused career tracks, including: Film + Broadcast, Recording Arts, Design + Visual Communication, Animation + Visual Effects and Game + Interactive Media. The creative work they participate in at TFA allows them to embark on their careers with a powerful resume and a professional portfolio.
“The labs and the tangible way of working, it’s really going to benefit the students over time,” Co-Founder of gravitytank Chris Conley said.
TFA’s teaching staff is composed of experts across the digital arts industries. In addition, TFA frequently partners with innovative companies on a number of client projects, from creating the multimedia backdrop for Fluid Mind’s Merchandise Mart concert to storyboarding on set for NBA superstar Derrick Rose’s AT&T #itcanwait commercial to designing customizable combat games like Avarice, which was released on Steam this summer.
“This experience puts you far ahead from what you get from a regular classroom,” Zynga Social Games Product Manager Bradley Ross said.
Collaborating at the professional level enables students to gain the know-how and to forge the connections that put them ahead when they begin their careers.
“All the latest technology, they’re working with professionals. I was absolutely just blown away,” director and screen write Joe Maggio said.
In just 15 months, TFA students can leave with the project experience, technology expertise and industry connections to transition immediately into a successful career path in the exciting field of digital media.
A venture with Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Enterprises, Tribeca Flashpoint Academy is one of the nation’s most well-respected digital and media arts colleges—offering a progressive training model that erases the boundaries between education and the professional world by exposing students to real-world, industry experiences and state-of-the-art software and equipment beginning their first semester on campus.
