Sound Design Instructor

Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy is seeking qualified candidates to teach Sound Design classes.  Courses in this focus area prepare students for audio careers in the film, video, interactive media, and commercial production industries.  

Candidates should have experience as a Sound Engineer with the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field REQUIRED.  Prior teaching experience at the college level a plus.
• Proven industry experience of 5+ years working as a sound engineer in the film, television, or commercial industries.
• Advanced skills in audio post-production for film and video.
• Advanced knowledge of sound design tools and techniques such as location recording, Foley, signal processing, sound synthesis, etc.  Advanced knowledge of Pro Tools is required.
• Advanced knowledge of digital and analog audio concepts, acoustics, recording, editing, and mixing techniques, etc.
• Understanding of audio production and implementation for interactive media is a plus.
• A strong interest in translating your knowledge and experience to an eager, small, focused group of students.
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail is a must given the demands of an academic environment.
• Must have a team player attitude and have demonstrated leadership experience.

This full-time Faculty position is in the classroom instructing students approximately 18-20 hours a week.  Additional responsibilities include advising students, grading, ensuring continuity across multiple sections of courses, participating in prospective student admissions interviews, participating in the development of curriculum as needed to keep programs current and consistent with industry standards, and assisting the Dept Chair with other initiatives as necessary.
