How it all started

Tribeca Flashpoint Academy was founded on a calling.

In the mid- 2000s, technology, social media, and e-marketing were booming. But while businesses were rushing into new media like online video and games, virtual training systems, augmented reality and more, colleges all around the country were slow to adapt. Changing technology, the rise of social media, and the convergence of the digital media industries left higher education in the dust—and college graduates to foot the bill.

Seeing this seismic shift in the way business is done, our founders (a team of veteran educators, artists, and entrepreneurs) decided to modernize higher education for an evolving workplace and a new economy. They created the school we know today as Tribeca Flashpoint Academy to disrupt, dismantle, and de-stigmatize career-focused education in the arts.

Where we are now

Since opening our doors in 2007, TFA has graduated over 600 young professionals, many of whom have gone on to work for award-winning films, blockbuster games, and renowned sound studios. Others have pursued their own vision through independently funded projects and start-up businesses of their own.
